UK’s Top 10 Spookiest Treasure Trails

It’s spook season people! We’ve gathered the top 10 most terrifying Treasure Trails to try this October and the Flamingo coven are excited to trial a few…

Double, double, toil and trouble can be expected when setting out on a Treasure Trail this all hallow’s eve.

With spooky storylines featuring vampires, ghosts, werewolves, witches and wizards the self-guided Trails take you on a ghoulish adventure as you crack cryptic codes en route to unlock scary stories from the past and solve the mystery at the end.

They’re designed to appeal to anyone with a sense of adventure; from Jonathan Creek wannabes trying to solve a detective mystery, to Count Dracula inspired code crackers on a Spy Mission.

Treasure Trails have gathered their top 10 Spookiest Trails to try out in the run up to Halloween, read on to find out what might haunt you:

  1. The Wizard’s Spell Book, Manchester

New for 2019 this Treasure Hunt tasks you with finding the evil wizard’s spell book in order to break the curse cast upon the city of Manchester.

  • Curse of the Vampire, Whitby

Trailers will need to sink their teeth into this Treasure Hunt and help the local chef put a stop to Ivan Tsukyablud, the cursed vampire who is rampaging through the town and stealing all of his garlic!

  • Haunted Hitchin, Hertfordshire

Help a ghostly resident relocate her diamond crown on this Treasure Hunt before ‘Para’ Norman arrives in town to send her away.

  • The Mermaid’s Curse, Staithes

Explore this seaside village on a Treasure Hunt where you’ll uncover what first inspired Captain James Cook’s love of the sea and learnt the secret behind the Mermaid’s Curse.

  • The Wicked Wizard of Alnwick, Northumberland

This circular Trail leads muggles on an adventure around the old market town of Alnwick stopping off at the castle which features in Harry Potter.

  • Winchester City North and South Ghost Trails, Hampshire

You’ll be haunted by the choice of Murder Mystery Trails in Winchester that follow routes unexplored by other Trails in the area, look high and low for clues… and ghouls of course.

  • The Clerkenwell Clown Caper, London

One of the more creepy fixtures of costume shops at Halloween time of year, follow this route around Clerkenwell on this Murder Mystery keeping an eye out for the local clown.

  • Pendle Witches, Lancashire

Avoid becoming bewitched on a driving Trail visiting the quiet lanes surrounding Pendle and solve the Murder Mystery surrounding the Pendle Witches.

  • Pirate’s Graveyard, Portland

This Treasure Hunt explores the secluded Pirate’s Graveyard and the ancient ruin of St Andrew’s Church. Lift up your patch and keep an eye out for skull and cross bones on some of the gravestones…

  • Haunted Prestbury, Cotswolds

Go on a ghost spotting walk with this Treasure Hunt. Take in the high street, past St Mary’s Church and the war memorial on this route around the Cotswold town.
