Last Chance To See Invisible Superheroes!
We urge you to go and see the wonderful Invisible Superheroes exhibition before it closes in February, ready for it’s 2019/2020 theme “Water: From Source to Tap”. If you’re unable to get to Westminster beforehand you can explore the exhibition digitally here!
Visitors are being given a final opportunity to visit ‘Invisible Superheroes’, an exhibition revealing the hidden story of how civil engineers transform lives and help safeguard our future, at the award-winning Institution of Civil Engineers Infrastructure Learning Hub in Westminster.
The free exhibition, which closes on 22nd February, uses cutting edge technology to highlight the unsung heroes behind some of the world’s most amazing engineering projects.
Designed to appeal especially to young people, the exhibition features real-life engineers as cartoon superheroes on their mission to save the planet from dangers such as climate change, flooding and the spread of disease.
Films, animations, interviews, quizzes and games help tell the untold stories behind incredible feats of civil engineering.
Visitors can also download a special app to augment their visit which brings to life a
3D digitally-created Isambard Kingdom Brunel character – the renowned Victorian engineer behind the Great Western Railway and Clifton Suspension Bridge – to guide them through the exhibition.
The app, which can used on any IOS or Android handheld device and is available on Apple Store and Google Play, also unlocks hidden features inside the exhibition space, turning physical paintings into video displays and making windows dance with virtual objects.
Open to the public at the ICE’s One Great George Street headquarters in central London, the Infrastructure Leaning Hub is the UK’s first learning centre to focus on engineering achievements and their role in tackling global challenges.
In 2018 it was designated a ‘Hidden Gem’ visitor attraction by VisitEngland in recognition of the quality visitor experience on offer.
Following Invisible Superheroes, a new set of engineering heroes will be revealed at the Infrastructure Learning Hub’s forthcoming exhibition, “Water: From Source to Tap”. Opening on World Water Day on 22 March, this new adventure from ICE will tell the story of how engineers fight fatbergs and flooding and keep clean water supplies flowing around the world.
The Invisible Superheroes exhibition is free to attend and open Monday to Friday, 10am to 5pm, at the Infrastructure Learning Hub at One Great George Street, London, SW1P 3AA.
