Birdland Reveals Re-Opening Plans

Birdland Park & Gardens has confirmed it will re-open to visitors from Monday, 22ndJune.

The Bourton-on-the-Water wildlife attraction will initially be welcoming a limited number of visitors in two-hour slots each day.

Everyone will have to pre-book online prior to arrival and there will be a cap on daily attendance.

“We are delighted to be able to start welcoming visitors back to Birdland,” said Manager Simon Blackwell.

“Our team has been hard at work in recent weeks ensuring everything is in place to be able to open the doors again.

“We have put in place a series of additional guidelines to ensure everybody can enjoy their visit safely.

“As part of those guidelines, we will be limiting capacity and running two-hour slots throughout the day. This will allow us to adhere to social distancing recommendations,” he added.

Initially Birdland’s indoor areas will not be open and there will be no daily talks or feeds.

“This has been an incredibly challenging time for everyone and hopefully we can offer a great experience for people to enjoy,” said Simon.

“This is a particularly busy and exciting time for the park as so many of our birds are either sitting on nests or already looking after newborn chicks.

“Both our king and Humboldt penguins have begun laying eggs and our flock of greater flamingos has produced its largest number of eggs for more than 18 years,” he added.

Located in the heart of the beautiful Cotswolds, Birdland is home to more than 500 birds, ranging from the England’s only breeding colony of king penguins and awesome birds of prey to parrots, cassowaries and cranes in a mix of free-flying and aviary displays.

Tickets will be on sale online from Wednesday 17 June 2020 prior to opening to the public on Monday 22 June 2020.
